Meet WWBN Gold Member Julie Lawlor
Julie Lawlor was drawn to the Executive Director position at the WestShore Chamber of Commerce because of their support for both business and the community. Supporting a board of directors and staff, Julie has helped create a welcoming and communicative environment.
With a background in non-profit management, Julie loves making connections. And she’s good at it. When Chamber members, or even non-members, are looking to solve something or are interested in a particular area, Julie is able to connect or refer people in her network.
Why the Chamber
A key Chamber member benefit is having the opportunity to make connections and do business with like-minded people. Members also contribute to the Chamber as a larger organization by supporting and informing their advocacy work, making use of the services offered; and supporting other members.
Other benefits include:
- Monthly events, Lunch and Learns, and coffee meetings
- Member-to-member offers and discounts
- Online news and social media communications
- Representation by Chamber for policy and advocacy work
- Opportunities to engage with electoral candidates – 3 levels of government
“Members are often surprised to learn that we’re part of a much larger network,” explains Julie. “We are also connected to the BC and Canadian Chambers of Commerce to tap into provincial and national business concerns.”
In partnership with the Goldstream News Gazette, Julie and her WestShore Chamber team manage the annual Best of the WestShore awards. They received over 30,000 votes in last year’s contest across 44 categories.
